Berberis thunbergii, Crimson Pygmy Barberry, Japanese Red Barberry (Barberry Pigmeo Carmesi) Berberis thunbergii 'Atropurpurea Nana'

Crimson Pygmy Barberry / Berberis thunbergii is the most popular Japanese Barberry shrub. It likes full sun, low maintenance/ easy to plant (tolerant of all types of soil). However, it does not like too much water.
Why I pick this shrub? ...because it is highly tolerance to deer, drought, pollution, rabbits, slope, wind... almost care-free :-)
Deciduous shrub size: 24" tall and about 30" wide.
Branches: Slender, spiny, and small.
Leaves shape: Roundly oval in a deep red to purple color.
Flower = Small, yellow flowers borne beneath leaves, from April to May.
Berries = Bright red decorative berries or fruits can be found along stems from late fall through winter.
USDA Hardiness Zone = 5 to 8
