Tomatoes - Early Morning Harvest

Just kidding on previous post, the tomatoes change color faster during hot summer, but not so much overnight. There is no magic! It has been raining for several days; I have to harvest the Better Boy Hybrid and cherry tomatoes so it won't crack.

Still raining...this photo is taken from the upstairs' window, see orange tomatoes on the right.

Topsy Turvy Upside Down Tomato Planter

I bought this upside down tomato planter from Amazon, the price finally drop; I guess it's not too late to plant tomato, or it can be reused next year. The review seems ok.

Make it yourself? See instructions here:

This Week Harvest

The cherry tomatoes are still very productive, it's a bit too much for us, so we have to give some away. Here are the mixed produces from my organic home garden, what are you harvesting this week?

The squash is doing quite well, it grows so fast on these two months

Do you think the squash looks like the image on seed pack?

Better Boy and 100 Hybrid Cherry Tomatoes

Are "Sweet 100 Hybrid Cherry Tomatoes" really producing 100 in one plant? Well, it actually sets an excessive number with a heavy crop more than 150 tomatoes. What are your favorite tomatoes? I prefer the taste of Better Boy and the cute appearance of Sweet 100 Cherry tomatoes. It would be nice to have grilled tomatoes for weekend cookout, how about garlic grilled tomatoes? Hope y'all have a Happy 4th!

Harvest of the Day: Cherry Tomatoes, Berries, Spinach, Romanian Lettuce, Squash

Here are some fresh harvest of the day: I pick some cherry tomatoes, squash, berries, a last few batch of Romanian lettuce and spinach. So, this week I don't have to get vegetables from the grocery store, it's nice to have fresh organic produce straight from the garden. What are you harvest lately?

Tomatoes

Have you started to harvest your tomatoes yet? See the progress here...
These are my sweet 100 hybrid cherry tomatoes, still green, but when I check this afternoon, some of them start changing to light yellow color.

Notes:
Tomatoes split or crack - is a sign of inconsistent watering, either too much or too little.
Fertilize once every two weeks with fertilizer high in phosphorus
Don't throw away the unfinish tea/tea bag, use the compost tea to add energy for tomatoes to finish up the season.
