Lime Leaves and Fruits

This patio/dwarf size fruit tree is producing close to 20 lime fruits. I found about 890 lime recipes for the fruits, but I just realized that lime leaf can also be used as a seasoning to provide a fresh citrus overtone in cooking, or enhance tea beverage flavor. Lime leaves add flavor to soups or salads / stir-fried dishes (use the whole or slice it into narrow strips). The leaves can be stored in a sealed ziploc bag for up to 6 months in a freezer.

Dwarf / Patio Lime Tree

I bought this small lime tree a year ago from Gurney's Nursery. In order to move it indoor during winter, I have to let it grows in a flower pot. It is such a cute small plant with many tiny fruits, the limes are getting larger, but it's not ready to harvest yet (see previous post #1, #2). I am thinking to get another patio size lemon tree.

Unknown indoor plant, bought it from Lowe's clearance section a year ago.

See... it has tiny black seeds!3 ft lime tree starts having tiny fruits. After seeing Prue's balcony size lemon tree, it inspires me to get a similar size disease free lemon tree.

The raspberries start to change color, probably I can harvest fresh berry fruits for several weeks.
Surprise! The squash starting to bloom...soon we will have something to cook!

Dwarf / Patio Lime Tree

Spring is in the air! The winter chill is finally loosening its grip and the green lime is starting to show signs of new growth with tiny flowers. This is a dwarf/ patio lime tree that I bought last year. My mom has a similar plants with some fruits on it. I plan to get a dwarf lemon or orange tree, it looks so cute on the patio.

LIME TREE, Citrus latifolia

Container-sized Dwarf Lime tree grows to about three feet in height and produce full-size, bright green juicy limes. Miniature tree adds color and fragrance to the patio. Lime fruits have a delicious, tangy taste. The flowers and leaves smell wonderful. It can be used in key-lime pies, in cold drinks or cooking. Some special recipes feature the unique taste of lime (lime juice or lime leaf).

Lime tree needs a humid environment/ misting several times a week, direct sunlight and frequent watering. Day temperature 65-70 degrees F; night temperature 50-55 degrees F. Use an acid-balanced fertilizer throughout the year and add trace elements in spring. Leaves will drop if soil is too wet or too dry. High pH or high soluble salts can cause leaf yellowing. If light is too low, it will not bloom; hand pollinate will improve fruit production.
