Avoid spending too much $ for the mulch, try ground cover

Sea Pink Grass-like Perennial Pink Flowers Ground Cover - Armeria, Thrift

Sea Pink is started to fade (see previous photos 1 & 2), I try to germinate it from flower seeds. Did anyone try initiate plant growth by germinating the dry flower seeds?

This grass-like perennial is very easy to grow, and blooming in pink flowers during spring/ summer.

Edit: Thanks to Chuck's respond, the name of this ground cover is Armeria/ Sea Pink/ thrift.
