Blackberry plant needs pruning short after harvest, but a long sharp tool is required due to the dangerous thorns. These are what I cut from the plant; some gardeners said dead canes can spread disease, so I have to take those to the dump.

It's Time to Harvest the Blackberry and Raspberry

I bought the Brazos Blackberry (Rubus Ursinus 'Brazos') and Latham Red Raspberry (Rubus Idaeus 'Latham') from a local nursery on March 8 for $5 (clearance). See the progress on April 13, 25, and May 19. It only takes 3 months, I'm now harvesting the fruits. The blackberry plant is now 3ft tall and will produce fruits every year, it's a great buy, totally worth every single penny!

Got Fruits? Brazos Blackberry - Rubus Ursinus Brazos

Brazos Blackberry is the best choice for home garden. Quite a good progress from previous months (see photo here). I enjoy those large white flowers and clusters of fruit. It is easy to plant under the sunny spot, disease free, and deer resistant. Brazos Blackberry is almost a care-free plant, and gives the best return on garden investment.

See the blackberry plant just arrived from the nursery last month.
It is now growing quite well and blooming with some large white flowers. It loves full sun and 10-10-10 fertilizer. This type of blackberry production is initially expended from Mexico, the name is based on 'Brazos', an old erect blackberry cultivar later developed in Texas in 1959.
