Purple Chaenorrhinum Origanifolium 'Summer Skies' Snapdragon & King Edward Yellow

Snapdragon 'Summer Skies' & King Edward Yellow
These are some of the new perennials in my garden, I finish off the landscape with double-sided castle brick edging. Snapdragon has lots of blue-lilac snapdragon-like 0.5" flowers. It is not deer resistant, but it's heat tolerant. Can you use the Chaenorrhinum seeds to grow a new plant?

Achillea Lewisii - King Edward Yellow

Smaller deer resistant plant with little yellow flowers, the leaves make a woolly mass 1-2" high, foliage is scented when crushed. Good part is it only needs minimum care, spread quickly in poor loose soil, but will decline in appearance in humidity. It is perfect for rock garden, or in pockets on a stone wall. It can be used as groundcover with interesting texture.

Easy-Care Red Pink Double Knock Out Roses

Why I pick the Double Knock Out Roses? It is the most disease resistant rose on the market, very easy to grow and do not require special care. It has stunning flower power with a generous bloom cycle (about every 5-6 weeks) that will continue until the first hard frost. All of the Knock Out Roses are self-cleaning so there is no need to deadhead. It's like plant it and enjoy it, no more hassle!

The roses name reminds me about that comedy "Knocked Up". Have you seen that movie? It's a funny one.

The Knock Out Roses are winter hardy to USDA Zone 5 and heat tolerant throughout the entire U.S. They thrive in almost every area of the country. In the coldest regions, they will need winter protection.

Habit: Compact, mounded and bushy.
Inflorescence: 1 to 5 flowers per cluster, up to 25 blooms per flowering branch.

Foliage: Deep mossy green with blue and maroon highlights and a maroon underside, distinct glaucous appearance.

Fall Foliage: Deep, lustrous purple with rich maroon undertones.
Disease Tolerance: The most disease resistant roses on the market. Black spot resistant and drought tolerant.

Flowering: Generous bloom cycle (about every 5-6 weeks) from spring until the first hard frost.

If unpruned, the Knock Out Roses can easily grow in a more, dense compact (3-4 feet) and upright fashion than Knockout’s 5-6 foot height and broad, spreading form. This sister to the Knockout rose puts a great deal into its value as a landscape rose, from its four season appeal to its natural resistance to black spot, as well as other diseases and insects. The season ending color of this rose is exceptional with its rich burgundy leaves in the fall and its bright orange-red hips to add color to the winter months. Plant them individually among shrubs, annuals and perennials in mixed beds and borders, or in large groups to create a colorful hedge. It also looks great along a foundation to provide a bright border.

Crimson Pygmy Barberry, Barberry Pigmeo Carmesi, Berberis Thumbergii 'Atropupurea Nana'

Crimson Pygmy Barberry,
Barberry Pigmeo Carmesi,
Berberis Thumbergii 'Atropupurea Nana'

It's the most popular Japanese Barberry deciduous plant, the leaves are vivid purplish-red. It gives an excellent color contrast to the landscape, and usually used as low hedge or border. Leaf drop during winter. It's leafless to increase the effectiveness of pollination early spring. The absence of leaves improves wind transmission of pollen for wind-pollinated plants, and increases the visibility of the flowers to insects in insect-pollinated plants. Don't worry, it is deer resistant, almost care-free, only grows about 3 inches each year, and requires very little pruning. I plant it close to the windows and fence to give extra security protection/ prevent intrusion. This little beauty really bites!
